Elba Zane Querry, 91, formerly of Hares Valley Road, Mapleton, PA and more recently a resident of AristaCare at Woodland Park, Orbisonia, PA, died Thursday, December 3, 2020 at AristaCare.
Born January 9, 1929 in Cass Twp., Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Elba and Alverna (Dell) Querry. He was united in marriage to the former Betty Dell on August 27, 1954. Mrs. Querry preceded in death on August 31, 2019.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Querry of Mechanicsburg, PA and Randy Querry and wife Rachel of New Market, MD and one granddaughter, Katherine Querry. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Free and Jean Kough.
Mr. Querry was a member of the former Latta Grove United Methodist Church, RD, Mapleton, PA where he served as church treasurer for many years. After the closing of the Latta Grove Church he became a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Three Springs, PA. He was also a 71 year member of Madden-Wennick Post 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace, PA.
He graduated from Saltillo High School in the Class of 1947.
He was employed at J. C. Blair Paper Co., Huntingdon, PA, U. S. Silica, Inc., Mapleton, PA, then at Gateway Foods, Inc., Huntingdon, PA, where he worked for 26 years until his retirement in 1991.
During his life he enjoyed fishing, gardening and in his retirement years he became an avid reader.
Mr. Querry was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving as a radarman aboard the USS Currier, a destroyer escort ship from 1947 until 1950.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, RD, Mapleton, PA with Pastor Faith Anderson officiating.
