Elsie L. McClain, 97, of Sportsman Club Rd, Calvin, PA, died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Embassy of Woodland Park, Orbisonia, PA.
Born on April 26, 1923 in Union Township, Huntingdon County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Catherine (Slagel) Querry. She was united in marriage to Gilbert G. McClain on April 10, 1943 in Cassville, PA. Mr. McClain preceded in death on December 31, 2000.
Mrs. McClain is survived by seven children: Carol E. Colbert, RD, Huntingdon, PA; Larry A. McClain and wife Emily, Cassville, PA; Bonnie E. Hess and husband Gail, Maytown, PA; Darlene L Henise, Red Line, PA; Kathleen A. Barnhart and husband Richard, RD, Huntingdon, PA; David G. McClain and fiancé Roxie Prough, Petersburg, PA; and Terry L. McClain and wife Tammy, Calvin, PA.
Eighteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren also survive.
Five brothers, Ralph, David, Charles, Wilber, and William “Bill” Querry and one sister, Catherine Hogg preceded in death. Two son-in-laws, Gerald Colbert and Robert Henise also preceded in death.
She was of Methodist faith and had attended Calvin United Methodist Church, Calvin, PA.
During her lifetime, Mrs. McClain was employed at Huntingdon Motor Inn, J. C. Penney, and Arrow Shirt Factory, all in Huntingdon, PA.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and traveling to Potter County with Roy and Dorothy Heaster.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Crossview Missional Church, 18546 Cooks Rd, Cassville, PA, with Pastor Dan Mansberger officiating. Interment will be at Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, RD, Mapleton Depot, PA. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elsie’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
