John R. Franks, Sr., 85, of Todd, PA, died Monday, November 23, 2020 at Penn Highlands Huntingdon, Huntingdon, PA.
Born on November 9, 1935 in Logan Township, Huntingdon County, PA, he was the son of the late James M. and Elvara (McGargle) Franks. He was previously married to Priscilla Myers who preceded in death on November 15, 2006. Mr. Franks married the former Patricia (Kelley) Mansberger on February 6, 2009. Mrs. Franks survives at home.
Three children: John R. Franks, Jr. and wife Karyn of Huntingdon, PA; Christopher L. Franks, Sr. and wife CherylAnn of Petersburg, PA; and Susan Shontz and husband George of James Creek, PA; five step-children: LouAnne Mansberger-Darby and husband Randy of Blairs Mills, PA; Daniel Mansberger and wife Teresa of Calvin, PA; Tammy Von Mansberg of Cassville, PA; Samuel Mansberger III and wife Frances of Virginia; and Jamey Mansberger and wife Liz of Huntingdon, PA; and one sister-in-law: Shelby Franks survive.
Nine grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and eleven step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Two brothers, James “Jimmy” Franks and Raymond “Tink” Franks preceded in death.
Mr. Franks was a member of Petersburg Bethel Presbyterian Church, Petersburg, PA and Crossview Missional Church, Cassville, PA. He was a member of the former Standing Stone Country Club, Huntingdon, PA.
During his lifetime, Mr. Franks was a service manager at local car dealerships, an insurance salesman, and later a newspaper carrier for The Daily News.
He loved bowling in outlaw leagues, enjoyed reading The Daily News, loved Yorkies and Chihuahuas, spending time with family, and watching sports, especially football.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Petersburg Bethel Church, 5435 Bethel Road, Petersburg, PA with Pastor Dan Mansberger officiating. Interment will be at Mooresville Cemetery, Petersburg, PA. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
