Richard E. Sayres, 93, formerly of Lancaster, PA and more recently of Timberhill Lane, Cassville, PA, died Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his home.
Born June 19, 1929 at Witmer, Lancaster Co., PA, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Weinhold) Sayres. He was united in marriage to the former Alberta M. Bostic on May 4, 1963. Mrs. Sayres survives at Embassy of Woodland Park, Orbisonia, PA.
He is also survived by two sons, James Sayres and wife Debra of Holtwood, PA and Jeffrey Sayres and wife Melissa of Etters, PA and two grandchildren, Curtis Sayres and Kayla Sayres.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Sayres was a member of the Hope In The Valley United Methodist Church, Cassville, PA, American Legion Post 34, Lancaster, PA, the Eighth Ward Club, Lancaster, the Trough Creek Valley Lions Club and he was a life member of the Trough Creek Valley Fire Co.
He retired in 1998 as part owner of Ruof’s Flowers, Lancaster, PA, after many years.
Mr. Sayres was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army.
