Vera L. Gurd

Vera L. Gurd, 91, of Huntingdon, PA, died Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, PA.

Born December 14, 1927 in Clay Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late George Wesley and Nettie Mae (Park) Dell. She was united in marriage to Harry R. Gurd on January 18, 1946. Mr. Gurd preceded on September 1, 2009.

She is survived by five children, Nettie Amanda Peters and husband John of Bensalem, PA, Betty Elizabeth Dell of Huntingdon, PA, Virginia Ann Williams of Bellefonte, PA, Robert Wesley Gurd and wife Bobbi Jo of Orbisonia, PA and Christine Leona Stevens and companion Gerald Stoll of Hesston, PA. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and three siblings, Myrtle Sherick of Shirleysburg, PA, Betty Bloom of Tyrone, PA and James Dell of Huntingdon, PA. One daughter, Norma Jane Jobe, four sisters and two brothers preceded in death.

Mrs. Gurd had attended the Fairview Evangelical Church, RD, Three Springs, PA. She was a graduate of Saltillo High School.

She was excellent at cooking and baking for her family. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 23, 2019 the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, 245 Seminary St., Cassville, PA with Pastor Todd Griest officiating. Interment will be made at Fairview Cemetery, RD, Three Springs, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
